Education
The Education Department produces a magazine, audio and visual training tapes and
sponsors a yearly regional conference of the Advance Training Institute to develop
leadership among pro-life service groups. The ILS Director conducts training workshops
nationally on crisis counseling, chastity and post-abortion counseling.
Although the Education Department specializes in assisting pro-life counselors, it is
not limited to this area. It is also concerned with a broad scope of respect life issues.
It distributes brochures and publishes a directory which lists all pro-life groups in the
United States and Canada and assists students in preparing talks and research papers on
vital life issues.
Counseling
The purpose of the Counseling Division is to establish a standard of excellence for
Pro-Life Pregnancy Service Centers so that professionals and volunteers will better serve
their clients. To date 25 centers have federated with ILS. The centers maintain their own
boards of directors and identity, while ILS provides the centers with operational
standards that they must meet to maintain their federation. ILS also trains their
leadership, provides a training manual for volunteers, provides insurance for them and
assists them with on-going consultation.
In affirmation of our dedication to preserving the sanctity of life, ILS and its
federated members do hereby subscribe to the following principles:
- God is the Author of Life and God alone may terminate life.
- Promotion of the sanctity and respect for human life includes protecting the unborn,
abused, aged, handicapped, suffering, dying, and needy members of our society.
- Alternatives to abortion are of paramount importance.
- The family is held in high esteem as the cornerstone of society.
- Premarital chastity is seen as a necessity for spiritual, emotional, and physical
well-being.
- We support the use of natural family planning as opposed to artificial contraception.
Volunteers for Life
Today's society id immersed in a "Culture of Death" that
devalues human life and dignity. Volunteers for Life is an organization dedicated to
restoring society to a "Culture of Life." Its members believe that a human life
is a sacred gift from God and must be preserved from the moment of fertilization to the
moment of natural death. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, they are called to a life of prayer
and action. |
